Ioan Lord, who has recently been tagged as the Welsh Indiana Jones, is the focus of this episode of the Original Outdoors Podcast. As a historian, writer, and avid explorer of abandoned mines, Ioan has found artefacts dating back thousands of years and uncovered more of the history surrounding the mines of mid-Wales. We discuss the mining industry, communities and what it takes to be like Ioan exploring what has been left behind in the hills and mountains of Wales. Richard Prideaux and Amy Green of Original Outdoors draw on some of their experiences of caves, mines and looking for signs of humans in the more remote corners of Wales.

The Original Outdoors Podcast was our first real move into digital content creation for the outdoor audience. We started it back in 2014, and that original run lasted until early 2016.
The show was rebooted in late 2023, with a co-host Amy Green , and joins our other popular podcasts.
We talk about weird and interesting news stories, dig deeper into current events and cover a wide range of topics from hiking and mountaineering to gear, ecology and even outdoor etiquette.
