North Wales Foraging Courses in 2025

7th October 2024

The team behind Original Outdoors have a long connection with foraging, wild food and ethnobotany – and for over a decade we ran foraging and wild food courses in North Wales, both here in North East Wales and over on the Eryri/Snowdonia coastline.

Now we run our foraging courses via the Wild Food People brand – along with producing our chart-topping podcast and other content.

2025 Foraging Courses in North Wales

At around this time of year we put together our course calendar for 2025 – because as we hit the run-up to Christmas we start to get lots of requests for foraging course gift vouchers.

I’ve put together this guide for anyone looking to learn more about foraging in the UK, and to help with choosing one of the Wild Food People foraging, wild food or outdoor cooking courses.

We also offer private foraging training and wild food events – for all budgets and experience levels. We have access to several different private woodland venues across North East Wales, as well as some local knowledge for the best foraging spots on the North Wales coastline.

2025 Spring Foraging Courses in North Wales

The 2025 foraging course calendar for Wild Food People begins as the weather warms up and the young species of spring start to show themselves.

At our woodland site near Ruthin, Denbighshire we start at the beginning of April – looking at iconic species like Wild Garlic or Hawthorn flowers alongside lesser known edibles like Opposite-Leaved Golden Saxifrage.

As it stands we have a single course in April 2025, two in May and another in June. It’s not unusual for us to add other dates to meet demand as most courses sell out weeks in advance.

Over on the coast of Anglesey we start a little earlier, with a course that is timed to coincide with an Equinox Spring Tide – a very low tide that exposes more of the seabed than you would usually have access to.

Later in April we start our season of Coastal Foraging Courses, with a round trip along a shoreline near Porthmadog that covers the finest wild edibles that can be gathered by hand at low tide.

2025 Summer Foraging Courses in North Wales

As we hit the summer months our calendar of events and courses opens up to include outdoor cooking, plant, tree and wildflower ID and courses for leaders and professionals.

We also keep up with our calendar of Foraging and Wild Foods and Coastal Foraging courses, evolving the content as we go to match the changing season.

In the summer we also start to get busy with private events and collaborations with farms and other businesses – doing everything from corporate retreats and employee wellness days to gin-tasting and wild cocktail evenings.

2025 Autumn Foraging Courses in North Wales

For the autumn months the attention switches to wild fruits and mushrooms.

We cover mushroom foraging in two ways – as part our foraging courses in autumn and with a dedicated Mushroom and Fungi Identification course.

A Mountain Leader with over a decade of experience across the UK and overseas, Richard is our Lead Instructor and a partner in Original Outdoors.
