Midwinter Foraging Course

A pre-season foraging and wild food course looking at what is available in the winter months in the UK

£35.00 per person

New course for 2020!

This course is very similar to our popular Foraging and Wild Foods course, but with one important difference – it takes place long before most of the plants we talk about on those courses have even appeared above ground!

The course starts at 10:00am runs through until about 1:00pm and takes place in the woods, fields and along the riverbanks in the countryside north of Ruthin, Denbighshire (see map below).

Course Content

  • Identification of common and safe edible wild plants, trees and fungi that can be found in winter/early spring
  • Identification of common toxic or dangerous species, including smaller/undeveloped leaves
  • UK foraging laws and ethical considerations
  • Opportunities to legally harvest edible roots (course run on private land)
  • The laws on carrying knives and edged tools in the U.K.
  • Staying safe when foraging
