EST Terrain Classification System

EST T11Urban and peri-urban areas where hard surfaces, buildings, street lighting and utilities are present
EST T22Gardens and enclosed fields, parkland, hedgerows and small woodlands. Mixed surfaces.
EST T33Large areas of vegetation with limited tracks and access, including heathland and forests below 300m above sea level (ASL)
EST T44Moorland and rolling, open farmland and unenclosed areas below 600m above sea level
EST T55Mountainous and moorland terrain above 600m ASL, forested and densely vegetated areas above 300m ASL OR T3-T4 terrain more than 1.5 km from point of normal vehicle access
EST T66Areas 3-5m from a significant area of moving or still water OR a steep drop of more than 1.8m
EST T77Areas less than 3m from a significant area of moving or still water OR a steep drop of more than 1.8m
EST T88All areas T1-T7 where permanent or temporary environmental factors make it significantly more hazardous than the average conditions for the average UK/temperate classification of that terrain (desert/arctic/high altitude/jungle/etc)
