2015 Course Dates and Offers

Bonfire night and Halloween are safely out of the way – is it OK to start talking about Christmas yet?

We have been working hard to ensure that we announce our 2015 dates in time for Christmas, as we sell dozens of places every year as Christmas gifts.
This year we are also offering discounts on our most popular courses until Christmas Day – the amount of discount varies from course to course, but we are already selling up quickly as people take advantage of these offers!

By following the links below you can either choose to pay the deposit or full amount for any of the advertised dates, or select the option to buy a gift voucher so the recipient can choose their preferred date. We have launched a new, simplified booking and payment system this year so booking a course or paying for a deposit is nice and simple.

Foraging Courses

Our foraging courses are always popular, and often the first of our courses that people attend. They are one-day entry level courses suitable for complete novices. The courses not only cover the common edible plants available that season but we also get into the legal and ethical aspects of finding wild food in the U.K., how to cook over an open fire and a few simple recipe ideas. We also cover how to choose foraging guidebooks and preparation of fish and game!
The courses take place in private woodland near Ruthin, Denbighshire and we are offering 14 different dates from April-October.

Woodcrafter Bushcraft Course

The Woodcrafter Course is our two-day wilderness skills (bushcraft) course. We run it in a 90-acre private mixed woodland, with lots of room to explore amongst the clearings, steep slopes, limestone crags and river gorge. The course includes and overnight stay in a shelter we teach you how to construct, and is suitable for novices and improvers alike. We cover a wide range of woodland living skills, including firecraft, using axes and knives safely, cordage, shelters, emergency techniques and much more.
The course price includes a Hultafors bushcraft knife and a ferrocerium firesteel. We have weekend dates available throughout the year.

Natural Navigation Courses

The idea behind our Natural Navigation courses is to show a different set of techniques for finding your way across the landscape. The course covers lots of ways of finding direction, orientating yourself in your immediate environment and ways to discover what may lie around the next corner.

Basic Navigation Course

Another very popular skills course, this two-day (non-residential) course is suited for navigation novices who want to know how to use a map, compass and the techniques to safely find their way across the countryside or mountains.
The courses take place in the Clwydian Range AONB and Snowdonia National Park.

Outdoor First Aid Course

Our 16hr Outdoor First Aid Course is suitable for NGB awards such as Mountain Leader etc, but is something that anybody who spends time in the outdoors should seriously consider. You don’t have to go too far from roads and civilisation to find yourself in a situation where you might have to spend an hour or more caring for a seriously injured person whilst waiting for help to arrive.
We have two dates available in 2015, and our team of ex-military and ex-mountain rescue instructors will deliver a fun, engaging and relevant course at our 90-acre woodland site near Ruthin.

Snowdonia Guided Walks

We have moved our guided mountain walks over to our sister website – SnowdoniaGuidedWalks.com. This website details how to book a private guided walk on a huge selection of mountain and upland routes, plus details on route choices and reports from some reccent trips:

Everything Else…

We are adding new dates for all advertised courses in the next few weeks, plus new and exciting events – including a two-day wilderness challenge across a remote area of North Wales. To make sure you don’t miss out you can sign up for our mailing list here:
