Course Description

Mountain Wild Camping Course

2- Day wild camping course in North Wales

£240.00 per person

This UK wild camping course takes place over two days in Snowdonia (North Wales) and is led by a qualified and experienced mountain leader.

The course runs from 9:00am Day 1 to approximately 4:00pm Day 2.

This course also fulfills the criteria for the EST Framework Level 1 Campcraft course.

Course Content

  • Route planning and navigation
  • Wild camping and UK law
  • Choosing a wild camp spot
  • Cooking and finding safe drinking water
  • The weather and dealing with adverse conditions
  • Emergencies and mountain safety
  • Planning and logistics for extended trips and expeditions

This course takes place over 2 days with a wild camp somewhere in the mountains of Snowdonia. The exact location and route will be made closer to the date of the course..

Course Timings

The Mountain Wild Camping course runs over 2 days. The course is paced to balance learning opportunities with personal development time, and in order to make the most of our time in the mountains the working days can be quite long. However, breaks and rest periods are built into each day:
Day 1 – Start at 9:00am, finish at 7:00pm (mountain wild camp)
Day 2 – Start at 8:00am, finish at 4:00pm

Course Location

The Mountain Wild Camping is run in the mountains of Northern Snowdonia, North Wales – near the village of Capel Curig.

Full joining instructions, including kit list, meeting points and other information will be sent once bookings have been confirmed.


What equipment will I need?

You will need to bring normal hillwalking equipment, plus a tent, stove, food plus sleeping bag and mat.

Can I bring a dog?

Unfortunately not on this course.

How fit do I need to be?

We will be on our feet for most of the day but pausing often – but we will be carrying heavy loads and moving over steep, rough ground at times. If you have any questions about fitness then please get in touch.
