Charity Events in the Outdoors

Responsible, safe and effective outdoor fundraising events

The Original Outdoors team of qualified mountain leaders and logistical planners have been involved in fundraising events in the mountains of the U.K. for the best part of a decade.
Climbing the mountains of the U.K. has been an attractive challenge for charities for a number of years now, and has proven to be very effective. The mountains are also a potentially dangerous place to be, and mountain rescue callouts involving unguided charity groups are increasing every year.

We offer a range of services to charities and other fundraising groups who want to attempt a mountain challenge safely and responsibly. These include:

  • Professional guiding of teams on the mountains at 1:10 ratio
  • Pre-event planning and logistics, tailored to the needs of the client
  • Photos and an edited video of the event for future publicity

Snowdon Challenge – Climb the highest peak in England and Wales

This is a classic one-day challenge – up and down Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. Standing at 1,085m (3,560ft) and with a variety of routes to the top this is an achievable challenge for mountain novices.
The current price is based on meeting the walkers at one of the car parks at the foot of Snowdon and escorting them to the summit and down again.
  • £350.00 minimum (ten places)
  • £35.00 per extra participant

The National Three Peaks – Climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24hrs

This is the challenge that more of our charity clients ask about than any other. Most groups start on Ben Nevis before driving to Scafell Pike in the Lake District and finishing on Snowdon. There are a variety of timings that groups can work to, and we’ve tried them all! It is almost inevitable that some of the walking will take place in the dark, and the overall distance walked is over 26 miles.
The fees we charge for this event are variable, dependent on how the transport and other logistical matters are arranged.Find Out More

Welsh Three Peaks – Climb the highest mountains in North, Mid and South Wales

This event is a shorter, but not necessarily easier, variation on the National Three Peaks. The target is to reach the summits of Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan back-to-back. There is less of a rest period between mountains with this challenge – and some brutal ascents!
As with the National Three Peaks challenge, the fees for this challenge depend on transport and other arrangements.Find Out More
