Land Navigation Tips : Pointing at a map

14th February 2024

Another of our popular ‘Tips from an Instructor‘ videos:

Navigation skills often rely on accuracy and good communication, and if you are navigating in a group then having a way to refer to a particular point on the map is rather important. Grabbing a pointy thing (pen, pencil, corner of your compass, stick) and using that instead of your stubby finger is going to make things easier for everyone – take it from Richard he has spent more hours than we can count perusing maps with other people.

If you have any questions which you would like to have answered by an Outdoor Professional as part of our ‘Ask An Instructor‘ series then you can send them in via our contact form, social media or by becoming a member of our online community.
